As we would say in Kenya, “we greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!”
Now back from Kenya three weeks, I’m just getting the opportunity to get this update out and I apologize for the delay (especially since Randa and I will be traveling back to Kenya next week!)
Here in this picture, we introduce to you Noel Academy’s first 1st grade class. The class has 28 students and we are incredibly blessed to have the privilege to help in their education. As many of you know, the working parents of most of these children pay tuition off setting the expense of the school. And a few of you are helping to fund the tuition of some of our orphaned or desperately poor children. We can’t say enough on their behalf, thank you.
We are sure you have heard in recent months about the unrest in Kenya. The community around Choimim was affected by the violence, but we praise God that there were no associated incidents. The church at Choimim and the school were unaffected. Interesting though, was that after the violence began, the church was overflowing with concerned people – people seeking answers to the confusion. We praise our Lord Jesus Christ for the privilege to open the Word and comfort so many.
In the coming months, BTV staff in Kenya will be close to finishing the second orphan home. We’re excited to see how the Lord will use these homes for His glory. Additionally, Randa and I along with a Raleigh pastor and his wife will be traveling to Kenya to survey work areas and to help open the door for future evangelistic opportunities in Western Kenya and Uganda. Please pray that God will use this time for His glory. We also will be pulling together our supporters and asking them to consider helping to fund a dining facility for the school. Now the school has 102 children and they are cooking their meals in a wood shelter and taking their meals in the church. God willing, we desire to construct a dining hall that will accommodate the needs of these children and the others that are excepted next year. The cost of this facility is $50,000. I pray that you will consider the hard word of the BTV staff and the success of this model school, thus consider if you can help us this year.
I’m organizing a small mission team that will leave on or about June 22nd for Kenya, and should you have interest in joining Randa, myself and this team please let me know at your earliest convenience.
Blessings to each of you as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
For His glory,
Damon, Randa and the BTV team
