Just wanting to take this time and share a praise with you. Last week, as many of you know, we held our pastor’s elders conference here at Choimim. Utilizing the church for our first regional event. Nearly 100 elders, church leaders, pastors attended this event. Most of those joining us were from Nairobi , Meru, Lake Victoria and as far away as Voi. We had the privilege of having two teachers from Colonial Baptist Chruch in Cary, North Carolina who taught the book of 1 Thessalonians and an evangelism program. The teachings were a great success and the students were so grateful for this week of instruction. As apart of the students week, they had to practice their evangelistic training in the surrounding community and glory to God we had just short of 100 people who made professions of faith in Jesus Christ and Lord and Savior! That evening, we showed the Jesus film in the church for all who wished to attend fro the community and many did. The church was packed, hundreds filled the church (est. of over 500) to see the life, death and resurrection of our Lord played out on video and in their native language.
With a packed week of instruction, I was still able to start the construction on the per-school facilities. The lesions learned from the construction of the church rally helped to facilitate the start of this new project for the village hub at Choimim. God willing, we should have the pre-school constructed and operational by January 2007. It is our goal that once fully occupied the pre-school will serve 80-100 children. Once completing the pre-school, work will begin on the orphanage and the primary school. In time, this completed project will be home and an educational institution to nearly one thousand children. It excites Randa and myself to know that God has privileged us, by allowing us the opportunity to help raise up the next generation, Christ centered and for His glory.
Sharing this information with you about the school, church and orphanage is exciting, but I also want to add that we are still going to be approx. $240K short in completing this project at Choimim. I would ask that you help to keep this project in prayer as we seek God’s provision in completing this valuable project.
I’ll be traveling back to the States today and I look forward to connecting with a number of you about this work and how you can be more involved. Please continue to pray for the work of BTV and the Community Baptist Church of Kenya. Our pastors, elders and teachers are busy teaching several discipleship classes all over . Our first Bible school started at the Choimim church on Monday with 32 students. Construction still continues and the work of the Kingdom is growing. So your continued prayers and financial partnership are instrumental in the success of this project and in the building up of God’s church.
Blessings from ,
Damon, Randa and the BTV staff
